This is a virtually rust free California M116A3 cargo trailer in very nice condition. Note this trailer is 660 lbs lighter than the M1101 & M1102. This is the last version of the M116 series trailers before transitioning to the M1101 3/4 ton & M1102 1 ton series trailers.

Considered by some to be the best heavy duty compact military trailers. The axle on the M116A3 1 ton trailer is arched to give it more ground clearance than the M116A2 3/4 ton trailers. The M1101 & M1102 series don't have leaf springs just short throw shocks for the suspension and have the tendency to bounce roughly and break fragile items within the onboard cargo. The M116A3 with it's long throw shocks and leaf spring suspension have a more stable ride and is very forgiving off and on road. The only thing the M116A3 and the M1101 & M1102 trailers have in common is they both have the bead lock run flat HMMV tires and wheels.
